The BioHubs Network is a regional alliance that aims to build a bridge between regional biotechnology stakeholders and the most strategic initiatives underway at the European level, establishing a regional network of competence centers dedicated to biotechnology development.
The network aims to support the goals of the UN 2030 Agenda and the European Green Deal through a series of targeted actions. Diverse thematic BioHubs, specialized in various biotech fields, including biopharmaceuticals, innovative foods, bioinformatics, and advanced materials contribute to create a regional backbone for biotechnology.
What is a BioHub?
A BioHub is a physical and organizational competence centre, located in Emilia-Romagna region, where public and private actors (research organizations, hospitals, corporates and SMEs) work together to develop biotech, medtech, and healthtech solutions.
Each BioHub is coordinated by a lead organization and involves partners that collaborate within a defined thematic area, sharing knowledge, connections, and development opportunities. A BioHub focuses on specific biotechnology domains, combining complementary expertise, research capabilities, and infrastructure.
